I received this notice from the Minneapolis NorthEast Business Association. While the club won't be participating on an official basis, this does look like fun. I have a double interest in this event. I'm co-chair of the Minneapolis Woman's Club Committee that operates and maintains the Ard Godfrey House-the oldest remaining frame house in Minneapolis. It's worth seeing!

DOG Days of Summer to Hit NorthEast

Every dog has it's day, and on Friday, August 3, the NorthEast Minneapolis Business Associate (NEBA) monthly NorthEast Night, will go to the dogs, as a parade for dogs and owners alike will venture throughout the neighborhood.

Around 6 p.m. owners are encouraged to assemble their dogs at Chute Square (located at 244 Southeast Bank Street-corner of Bank and University), as the parade will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m. Office Elliot Wong of the Minneapolis Police Department will escort the parade throughout the business district.

Everyone is invited to picnic in the park and visit the Historic Ard Godfrey House located in Chute Square starting at 5 p.m. To add some fun to the event, owners are asked to dress up their dogs in fun and creative costumes for the picnic and parade.

Select NorthEast establishments will host activities in or outside their locations from 4 p.m. to 7.m. including:

- Pet Adoption with Homeward Bound and Bone Adventure
- Doggie Portraits by Shelly Mossman Photography at Let's Cook
- Doggie Foot soaks at SPOT Spa Boutique
- Specials on Key West Aloe Doggie Shampoo at Key North
- Signature Liver Goodies and Fall '07 "Pets and Peeps" collection at T Lee Jewelry
- Drawing for and Original Hand-Painted pet portrait by Irene & Mike Menasco and Artistic Indulgence
- Homemade Doggie treats for Dogs and Puppy Chow for Human Companions at Let's Cook
- Famous Hot dog stand at Surdyk's
- Traditional Irish music at Keegan's Irish Pub

Anyway who has not been to the East Hennepin/University Ave. area recently will be amazed at how it has changed.
